A Step Toward A Greener Future:
RJB Completes Pennsylvania’s First-Ever NEVI-Funded Tesla Charging StationAs electric vehicles become an integral part of our daily lives, the need for robust and accessiblecharging infrastructure is more critical than ever. We are proud to announce a significant milestone in this transition: RJB Contracting has recently completed the state of Pennsylvania’s second operational government-funded Electric Vehicle (EV) charging station in Aston, PA. This achievement underscores our commitment to sustainable transportation and places us among the early pioneers in Pennsylvania’s EV charging network.
This project aligns with broader state and federal initiatives aimed at increasing EV accessibility. As partof the the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) Formula Program, Pennsylvania is actively participating in the national effort to build a comprehensive EV charging network. Funded through the the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL), which allocates $7.5 billion for expanding EV charging infrastructure across the country, the NEVI program plays a crucial role in this transition.
“I think there’s right around 10 or 11 sites operational in the country, so we have two of them,” said Colton Brown, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s alternative fuels infrastructure coordinator.
Pennsylvania is leading the way in building EV charging stations, with 80 stations expected to be constructed by the end of 2025 through three rounds of federal funding. This is part of a larger effort involving 33 states taking advantage of NEVI funding.
Pennsylvania’s Role in Increasing Accessibility in EV Infrastructure
The NEVI program aims to strategically deploy Direct Current Fast Charging (DCFC) stations along designated Alternative Fuel Corridors (AFCs). These stations are designed to reduce range anxiety for drivers and make EV charging accessible for both local and long-distance trips. Pennsylvania is set to receive $171.5 million over fiveyears. This funding will help ensure that EV chargers are conveniently located and future-proofed for growing demand.

NEVI Compliance: Future-Proofing Infrastructure
The NEVI program focuses on creating a future-ready EV charging network, requiring that stations be no more than 50 miles apart on designated corridors and within 1 mile of highway exits. RJB Contracting’s commitment to building NEVI-compliant stations ensures that Pennsylvania is not only catching up with current EV demand but also preparing for the explosive growth anticipated over the next decade.
Join The Movement
The transition to electric vehicles is happening now, and the infrastructure to support it is expanding every day.
